1. Agreement to Terms

By downloading, installing, or using VisualVocab (Bundle ID: app.visualvocab.ios), you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. VisualVocab is developed and operated by VisualVocab.

If you do not agree to these terms, you must not use the application.

2. Account Requirements

• All features require a registered account
• You may register via Email & Password, Google Sign-In, or Apple Sign-In
• Email verification is required for email/password accounts
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials
• You must provide accurate information during registration
• You may not share your account with others or create multiple accounts

3. Description of Service

VisualVocab is an AI-powered visual language learning application for iOS. The app provides:

• YOLO Mode: On-device, real-time object detection using a YOLOv26n model at up to 24 FPS across 80 object classes
• Claude AI Mode: Cloud-powered precision identification via Anthropic's Claude Haiku 4.5 vision model
• Apple AI Mode: Fully on-device intelligence using Apple Vision Framework and Foundation Models (requires iOS 26+)
• A personal vocabulary builder with cloud sync across 11 supported languages

4. Credits & In-App Purchases

4.1 Credit System

• Claude AI identifications consume credits (~1 credit per identification, calculated from actual API token usage with a 3x markup)
• New accounts receive 10 free credits upon email verification
• YOLO mode and Apple AI mode are free and do not consume credits

4.2 Purchasing Credits

• Additional credits are available via Apple In-App Purchase in packs of 100, 500, or 1,500 credits
• All purchases are processed by Apple and subject to Apple's terms and conditions
• Prices are displayed in your local currency at the time of purchase

4.3 Refunds

• Credits are non-refundable once purchased, except as required by applicable law
• For In-App Purchase refund requests, contact Apple directly per Apple's refund policy
• Free credits granted on signup are non-transferable

4.4 Credit Integrity

Credits are managed server-side through atomic PostgreSQL transactions with idempotency protection. Any attempts to manipulate, duplicate, or exploit the credit system are grounds for immediate account termination.

5. Acceptable Use

You may use VisualVocab for personal, non-commercial language learning purposes. You must not:

• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the application
• Exploit, manipulate, or attempt to circumvent the credit system
• Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to make bulk API requests
• Attempt to circumvent rate limits, security measures, or access controls
• Share your account credentials with others
• Use the camera feature to capture images in locations or contexts where photography is prohibited
• Use the app in violation of any applicable laws or regulations

6. AI-Generated Content

• Object identifications and translations are generated by AI models (YOLOv26n, Claude Haiku 4.5, or Apple Intelligence)
• AI-generated results may not always be accurate or complete
• We do not guarantee the correctness of any identification, translation, or confidence score
• You should not rely on VisualVocab for safety-critical purposes, including but not limited to identifying potentially dangerous plants, animals, allergens, or hazardous substances

7. Camera & Device Access

• The app requires camera access to function — this permission is requested via iOS and can be revoked at any time in Settings
• You are responsible for how and where you use the camera feature
• Do not use the camera in locations or contexts where photography or recording is prohibited
• The app runs in portrait orientation and is optimized for iPhone

8. Intellectual Property

• VisualVocab, its design, source code, and branding are the property of VisualVocab
• "VisualVocab" name and logo are trademarks of VisualVocab
• The YOLOv26n model is used under its respective open-source license
• Your vocabulary data (the words and translations you discover) remains your property

9. Third-Party Services

VisualVocab integrates the following third-party services. Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms:

• Supabase Terms of Service — Authentication, database, Edge Functions
• Anthropic Terms of Service — Claude AI image identification
• Apple Terms & Conditions — App Store, Sign-In, In-App Purchase
• Google Terms of Service — Google Sign-In

We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or actions of third-party services.

10. Service Availability

• We strive to maintain service uptime but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability
• Cloud-dependent features (Claude AI, vocabulary sync, authentication) require an internet connection
• On-device features (YOLO detection, Apple AI) work offline after initial account setup
• We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features with reasonable notice

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:

• The app is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied
• VisualVocab shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
• Our total aggregate liability shall not exceed the amount you have paid for in-app purchases in the 12 months preceding the claim

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

• We do not warrant that AI identifications or translations will be accurate, complete, or error-free
• We do not warrant that the app will be free of bugs, interruptions, or security vulnerabilities
• On-device ML models have inherent limitations (80 COCO classes for YOLO; Apple AI requires iOS 26+ with Apple Intelligence enabled)
• Credit costs per identification may vary based on actual API token usage

13. Account Termination

• We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms
• You may request account deletion at any time by contacting us (see Section 16)
• Upon termination, your vocabulary data and any remaining credits may be forfeited
• Sections regarding liability, warranties, and intellectual property survive termination

14. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which VisualVocab operates, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of VisualVocab shall be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.

15. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Your continued use of VisualVocab after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
